People’s Climate March, in advance of UN Climate Summit 2014
Sep 21 @ 11:30 am

Join with downtown community gardeners in this massive, history-making march in advance of UN Climate Summit 2014!

Organizers anticipate that more than 100,000 people will participate, including many elected officials. Garden volunteers can join almost three dozen Lower Manhattan gardens to form a gardens contingent under the LUNGS banner. Make every effort to be part of this historic event. March with your family, friends and neighbors.

March Logistics: LUNGS are meeting at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21 on Central Park West, between 71st & 72nd St. The march begins at 11:30 a.m. We are marching in Section 3, as part of the Food & Water Justice contingent. Vandana Shivaworld-famous environmental activist and outspoken critic of genetically modified crops, will address our contingent before the march begins.

The NYPD will control access to the assembly area, so please enter Central Park West from 72nd or 77th St.

Second Annual Fall Harvest Festival

Costumes encouraged!

Invite friends and neighbors and enjoy a day of fun activities for all ages, live music, and lite bites and refreshments donated by neighborhood businesses. Give back by bringing canned vegetables to benefit The Bowery Mission’s Thanksgiving Meal.

For Everyone

  • Jack-o’-Lantern Contest. Bring your carved creations to the Garden. Ribbons will be awarded at day’s end for the funniest, scariest and craziest designs. Pumpkins can remain on display through Halloween.
  • Live Music performed by Laura GragtmansEric Leva, Lauren Ruff & Friends, and Shaeera Tariq.
  • Sketching by Spring Studio with flutist Andrew Bolotowsky.
  • Photo Gazebo for social sharing. Visit our social media station, tag with #elizabethstreetgarden and tell the world why the Garden is important to you!

  • Planting Daffodil Bulbs courtesy of New Yorkers for Parks. No gardening skills required. Just the desire to get your hands in the dirt.

Lite Bites and Refreshments Donated By

The Harvest Festival is the culmination of our Bees, Butterflies & Worms neighborhood-led initiative which began in spring to educate children and adults about eco-gardening, habitat creation, urban wildlife and sustainable stewardship, with funding provided in part by Citizens Committee for New York City.
